I launched a bilingual public awareness campaign to warn residents about housing scams and help homebuyers protect themselves.
At the Auditor’s Office, we identified a pattern of Spanish-speaking residents falling victim to housing scams, many involving homes with high delinquent taxes or slated for demolition. Over half of the Spanish speakers contacting our office needed help with housing-related issues. I proposed a public information campaign to address the issue directly, combining earned media, updated web content, and social media messaging. I also helped train staff for interviews and coordinated coverage to reach both English and Spanish-speaking audiences. The campaign raised awareness of these scams and gave residents actionable tools to navigate the homebuying process more safely.
